Frequently asked questions
Why choose an automatic robot to mow my lawn ?
Mowing old grass can stimulate the growth of new grass so that the lawn increases density, evenness and elasticity ; reinforces its resistance and extends its lifetime... but it's also a very tedious work, (not to say a real hassle). So if you have a busy schedule and find it hard (or just plain disagreeable) to mow your lawn, if you are frequently away from home but still like to keep a tidy lawn, find hired gardener expensive or not so dependable, wish to save the planet by reducing engine produced pollution, are tired about noise complains from the neighbors, just love high tech products, or just hate mowing grass ... this automatic, quiet, no emission robot mower is definitely made for you.
But does the robot really work ?
Yes, it does. Mowing in a random pattern, like a horse or a sheep would do (but more efficiently) , the robot provides an excellent cutting, equal or better than a traditional push mower - without the hassle. And by letting the small clippings nourish your soil you can get a much healthier and better looking lawn - effortlessly.
How does the robot know where it is going ?
Using your robot requires an initial one-time setup, laying wire around the areas to be mowed, which can take several hours (but usually not more than to mow your lawn one time). You can take some time to experiment with the setting and find the best placement. The small wire pegged to the ground forms a virtual fence indicating to the robot the area where it can mow. It will easily disappear from sight in normal growing conditions.
The onboard navigation system of the robot will indicate him its position relative to the wire, letting him cut in different patterns (criss-crossing, spiral) and remember driving direction and distances for an efficient mowing, until a full area is covered.
Since the robot moves across the lawn randomly, is there a risk of transforming my lawn into a patchwork of grass strips or a work of modern art ?
The robot does not create a large airflow from the blade rotation like a walk mower and will not lay the grass down in strips. On the contrary, moving across the grass randomly, as a natural mower (sheep or horse) would do, it leaves a even and very well cut lawn.
Will the robot avoid the trees and flower pots in my garden ?
The robot detects obstacles. If the object is rigid and over 6 inches tall, it will bump into it and avoid it. However, for other areas like flower bed or swimming pool, you will need to exclude them from the cutting area with the perimeter wire. Simply surround the object to be avoided with the wire in a "safety island", and make sure the space between the wires leading to the island is less than 10 cm. The closeness will cancel the signal in this section of the wire, allowing the robot access around the obstacle, but keeping it out of the island.
Is the height cut adjustable ?
Yes, from 1 to 2.6 inches. The adjustment is very easily made on the top of the mower before starting it on.
Is the robot "fast"?
While it's certainly time-saving, generally speaking, the robot does not run very fast (and can therefore easily be avoided when operating). It will take from 2 to 3 times longer than a traditional walk-behind mower - with the very big difference that you don't need to walk behind it. Typically, we recommend to cut the lawn 2 or 3 times a week : for this, you'll just need to push a button and let it work, nighttime or day. While the robot is not so fast, it can truly save your own time.
How long does the robot charges - and how long does it work autonomously ?
The robot charges in 3-4 hours. Autonomous work time will vary depending on grass height and type, but will usually last 2-3 hours.
Is the robot safe ?
Our robotic mower is much safer than other lawn mowers. Designed to back away from obstacles, the blades don't send objects flying out the way most lawn mowers do, and since you are not there when it works, you risk much less being injured by the mower or by thrown objects. In addition, our robot shuts off its blades within a few seconds when it is picked up or tilted over a 35 degrees angle. Basically, as it mows by itself, it is definitely the safest way to mow. However, it is up to you to decide if running completely unattended is right and to make sure neighbors, kids or other bystanders do not get near it while it is working.
Are children and pets safe ?
We recommend that children be monitored closely when the mower is in use and be forbidden to go near it. The robot features a safety lift sensor that will stop the blades in a few seconds when the machine is picked up or tilted, for a very safe use. The robot moves relatively slowly and can be easily avoided by both humans and pets, and it is equipped with sensors and reverses when bumping into an obstacle : should it "bump" into a pet, the collision will be light. Moreover, experience shows that pets usually respect the robot and give it its necessary working space.
Why is this robot "green" ?
It has been calculated that the air pollution from using for an hour a gasoline-powered lawn mower to cut grass is about the same as that from a 100-mile automobile ride. However, the robot mower is electrically powered (no oil, no gas) and releases no harmful emissions, running quietly without polluting the air, not even in terms of noise.
Why is it not necessary to collect the clippings ?
The mower creates very small clippings, which will be dispersed around the ground. Quickly decomposing, they will nourish the lawn like a natural fertilizer and should therefore not be collected.
Is the robot noisy ?
With noise level between 65 – 69 dB, the robot runs discreetly and will not disturb your neighbors, for a convenient and noiseless use.
Is the robot waterproof ? Can it operate under the rain ?
While the robot is waterproof and can operate if it falls only a few drops, if it rains heavily, it will automatically return to its base, and we recommend that you shelter it as it is not watertight. Similarly, do not rinse it with a high pressure garden hose.
Will it make my allergies worse ?
Contrary to traditional lawn mowers, the robot does not pollute. Moreover, as you are not next to it when it mows the lawn, you do not need to breathe any dust or grass particles that could aggravate pre-existing respiratory conditions.
How do I maintain the robot in the best condition ?
Replace blades regularly to maintain an excellent cutting result. Depending on your lawn size, remember to clean grass from the wheels and chassis. If the robot needs washing, gently wipe its surface and blade with a wet cloth. Do not spray the machine with high-pressure water (hose).
If you are not going to use the machine for a long time (for instance if you don't need cutting during winter), please switch off the power supply and recharge fully the battery when reusing it.
Where can I buy accessories (extra pegs, extra wire, new blades, tec.) if I want some ?
Accessories will be available on our website, on the product page.
What kind of battery does the robot use ?
The robot lawn mower is equipped with Lithium-ion battery. Autonomous for up to 3 h for a fast charge cycle of 3-4 hours, it has a longer life compared to Ni-Mh batteries (lead-acid batteries), no memory effect detrimental to the carrying capacity, and low self-discharge over time.
Can the robot cut weeds that are thicker than grass ?
Yes, the robot can cut weeds that are thicker than grass, but it cannot cut very big tree roots or branches. Hard objects on the lawn (branches, stones, acorns, etc.) need to be removed before starting the robot. The grass and weeds should be lower than 13 cm, but no lower than 2.5 cm, since the robot can cut between 2.5 cm and 6.5 cm.
What is the cutting width of the robot ?
The robot has a cutting width of 26 cm.
If the land is not flat, can the robot be used ; and at what maximum incline ?
The robot mower can be used on slopes up to 27 - 30 degrees maximum.
How many square meters of can the robot cover during his 2-3 hours of battery life ?
The robot mowing speed is 26 meter/ minute. However, as it works in different patterns (spiral, criss-cross lines) randomly depending on the lawn and the obstacles, it is difficult to evaluate the meter squares covered. A gross average would be around 127m2 / hour.
Can the robot be used without the electronic wires ?
No, it is not possible. The robot works by receiving signals from the fence. Without it, it will move freely without limits, and stop working when it does not receive any signal from the fence for more than 5 min.
How long is the electronic fence ?
The electronic fence provided measures 200 m.
Is the electronic cable connected to the charging base ?
Yes, the fence is connected to the charging base and receive signal from it.
Can we bring the robot in an area without any electrical output and once done take it and bring it back to its charging base ?
The robot cannot work without a fence - and the fence needs electrical output from the charging base. It is not possible to operate the robot without the electronic fence, except with the remote controller, but this is not recommended.
How much does the robot weigh ?
The robot weighs 19 kg (battery included).
Is this product compliant with CE and Rohs ?
Yes, the product is compliant with European standards regarding electrical products (CE and Rohs).
Is there a user manual ?
The user manual in the national language of your country of purchase will be included with the product.
Does the product have a guarantee ?
Yes, Paranello provides a 1 year guarantee from the date of reception of the product.
